I didn't always agree with Christopher Hitchens but always enjoyed his rapier wit, his refusal to suffer fools, gladly or otherwise, and his awesome command of the English language. Hitchens was the only guest I have ever seen smoking on Hardball, and Chris Matthews tolerated it without question or irritation, an exception I think he would not have made for anyone else.
