When we have a REAL attorney general...

Eric Holder will be confirmed this week after the Republicans' silly little delay game. Finally, an honest prosecutor, who may well investigate and prosecute many from the Bush administration, including

The president

The vice president

Harriet Miers

Alberto Gonzalez

and most of all, Karl Rove.

As you go down the food chain, perhaps Rove. I doubt we'll see high profile prosecutions of the principals. The oft-repeated "we're looking forward" from the Obama administration is code for "we're not going there for pragmatic political reasons." I think the prevailing view is high profile prosecutions would distract at best or paralyze, at worst, the country in a time of crisis.

There's been pushback, too. Right wing Repugs, like John Cornyn, have held up the Holder confirmation seeking "assurances" that Holder will not pursue a "witch hunt."

I know, but there's always hope!

That there is! There are some interesting aspects to this I've given some thought to posting about ...

I love the "We will confirm your appointment if you will assure us that you will NOT do the job you are being appointed to" approach the Repubes are taking. Makes them look so... consistent.

That Harriet Miers pic is probably the funniest thing I've seen..ah, this month, or I mean this year.
