Al Qaeda is doing everything they can to disrupt our efforts in Iraq, to disrupt the new government, creating more violence than anyone can imagine and defeating al Qaeda there is important, because if we were to pull out before we win, we will embolden every terrorist in every corner of the world and then instead of fighting them in Iraq, we'll be fighting them on every street in America."

Face the facts; if you don't take Iraq into account, or how he's run the Defense Dept. Rumsfeld has done a fantastic job. Well, he hasn't shot anyone in the face or diddled any boys (that we know of) yet.
And of course the only problem in Iraq is that pesky Al Qaeda. And don't you love the pre-spin? "If we were to pull out before we win..." hmm, and this "win" is what? Dumping a Hell hole on the next recruits? Spuring on the next turrist attacks to re-rally the Nationalistic Patriot Machine?
The only "win" for us in Iraq is a very sincere appology and decades of debt to rebuild the damage.
